1 Information We Collect
To provide a seamless expense-sharing experience, we collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register and use the app.
Personal Identification Information
- Account Data: We collect your name and email address to create your account and uniquely identify you within the CoSpend family.
- Profile Details: You may optionally provide a phone number, address, and social media handles (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) to help your friends identify and connect with you.
- UPI ID: To facilitate the "Settle Up" feature, you may save your UPI ID. This is stored securely and used only to generate payment links and QR codes for your book members.
Application Usage Data
- Expense Records: We store the amount, description, and timestamp of expenses you add to "Books."
- Invitation Data: We keep track of invitations sent to emails (including those not yet registered) to ensure your friends can join your books upon signing up.
- FCM Tokens: We collect device tokens to send you real-time push notifications about book activity and invitations.
2 How We Use Your Information
CoSpend uses the collected data for various professional purposes:
- To manage and maintain your account.
- To calculate shared balances and "Settle Up" totals between group members.
- To facilitate payments by generating dynamic UPI QR codes.
- To send automated email notifications (OTPs, Book Invites) via our secure server bridge.
- To provide real-time updates when expenses are added or deleted by your group members.
3 Data Storage and Security
Your security is our top priority. We employ industry-standard measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: All personal and financial data is stored using high-grade encryption via Google Firebase.
- Secure Transmission: Data sent between your device and our servers is protected using SSL/TLS encryption.
- Access Control: Only members explicitly invited to a "Book" can view the expense records within that specific book.
4 Sharing Your Data
Vide Creators P.S.C does not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to third-party advertisers. Your information is shared only in the following contexts:
- Group Members: Other users in your shared "Books" can see your name, email, and UPI ID to facilitate bill splitting and payments.
- Third-Party Service Providers: We use Google Firebase for database services and Hostinger for email delivery. These providers have their own strict privacy standards.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
5 Your Rights and Choices
You have full control over your data within CoSpend:
- Access & Update: You can edit your profile information and UPI ID at any time through the "Edit Profile" screen.
- Data Deletion: You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data. Please contact us at the email provided below for data removal requests.
- Opt-Out: You can choose not to provide optional social media or UPI information, though this may limit certain "funky" features of the app.
6 Children's Privacy
CoSpend does not knowingly collect any personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our platform, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately, and we will do our best to promptly remove such information.
7 Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the effective date at the top.
